Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a focused, therapeutic treatment designed to relieve chronic tension, muscular tightness and deep‑seated discomfort within the body. Using slow, firm pressure and specialised techniques, the treatment works on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to help release adhesions, improve mobility and support long‑term muscular health.

Deep tissue work has been used for centuries across various cultures to address persistent aches, restricted movement and postural strain. It is often referred to as remedial massage, structural release or myofascial therapy. The treatment aims to ease areas of long‑standing tension, support recovery from repetitive strain, and promote overall physical wellbeing.

Prior to a treatment, a comprehensive consultation is conducted. This includes a full medical history (including medication and any current interventions) as well as a lifestyle overview covering activity levels, stress, sleep, posture and daily routines. This allows the treatment to be adapted safely and effectively to meet your individual needs.

The treatment is usually performed on a couch, with clothing removed only from the areas being massaged. A combination of slow strokes, targeted pressure, and deeper techniques are applied to specific muscles and connective tissues. Pressure is adjusted throughout to ensure comfort while still working effectively into areas of tension.

Warmth, release and a sense of muscular softening may be felt as deeper layers begin to unwind. Some areas may feel tender as tension is worked through, followed by improved mobility, reduced discomfort and a feeling of lightness. Depending on your individual needs, a course of treatments may be recommended to support ongoing muscular health and wellbeing.
