Dr Steph Fryer Clin Psy D, HCPC registered BPC accredited DIT therapist

Steph is a qualified Clinical Psychologist and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. She is registered with the HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist and accredited by the BPC as a Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (DIT). Steph also has a masters in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and is eligible for accreditation with the UKCP as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist.

Steph has over 20 years experience of working in the NHS with adults presenting with a wide range of difficulties, for example low self-esteem, grief and/or loss, stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, as well as people with past experiences of trauma. Many people have problems in terms of the way they see themselves and others and Steph’s way of working can help people who have difficulties in interpersonal relationships at home or in other spheres of life.

Psychological therapy involves thinking about change and the evidence base for Steph’s way of working suggests that the changes people are able to make in therapy are often maintained and built upon after therapy ends. Therapy involves providing people with a safe space where they can feel heard in a non-judgemental manner, so that they can gain better understanding of how they see themselves and others. Gaining understanding helps people think about potential changes they wish to make.

Steph has maintained and broadened her skills and expertise over the years by undertaking extensive post-qualification training, for example in recent years she has undertaken training in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy, Transference Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy, Mentalisation and Mindfulness based cognitive therapy.
